Marriage Preparation At St. Edith Stein we use a curriculum by Ascension Press called Joy-Filled Marriage. Our hope and prayer for all engaged couples is that you have exactly that! Marriage is a gift and a growth opportunity. Both can be joy-filled! It is our passion at St. Edith Stein to build relationships with the engaged couples that choose to get married here.
Our preparation program is a 6-week series that offers a comprehensive approach to marriage preparation that covers not only the sacramentality and theology of marriage, but the practical life skills necessary to live out the rich Catholic vision of marriage.
Contact our parish office at 281-492-7500 to set up your appointment today.
"The marriage covenant, by which a man and a woman form with each other an intimate communion of life and love, has been founded and endowed with its own special laws by the Creator. By its very nature it is ordered to the good of the couple, as well as to the generation and education of children. Christ the Lord raised marriage between the baptized to the dignity of a sacrament." Catechism of the Catholic Church # 1660
Why get married in the Catholic Church? Since marriage establishes the couple in a public state of life in the Church, it is fitting that its celebration be public, in the framework of a liturgical celebration, before the priest (or a witness authorized by the Church), the witnesses, and the assembly of the faithful. Catechism of the Catholic Church 1663
Getting married? There is so much excitement in planning a wedding! Make sure that you call the parish office at least nine months before the wedding date to make an appointment with a deacon, who will help you decide what type of preparation is necessary as each couple is unique. We offer Unitas, Convalidation, Sponsor Couples and Engaged Encounter. Congratulations!
