The purpose of the Military Care Ministry is to recognize and show support to active military personnel that are family members and friends of St. Edith Stein parishioners. We host four activities throughout the year.
SES Military Care Package Drive
Pick Up Boxes: May 13 & 14, 2017
Drop Off Boxes: May 20 & 21, 2017
In November 2008, we began the Military Care Ministry.
To date, we have sent out more than 3,555 care packages to military men and women stationed overseas
. We send these special packages to the husbands, sons, brothers, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews of our own St. Edith Stein parishioners. Most of them are the ones with their pictures in the Display of Valor in the narthex of the church. Also, because the care packages had impacted them so much, some of those same men and women have requested packages sent to their replacements.
Each drive, we determine which SES military are deployed and who have returned home. We divide the packages that are received and send them to the men and their units who are currently deployed. Due to your overwhelming generosity, we are usually able to send 15 to 20 boxes to each one to support their unit. We have received numerous thank you letters that appreciate the generosity and quality of the care packages. They made a tremendous impact on those so far from home. Your care packages have touched many lives and are so appreciated by the men and women who receive that touch of support and encouragement from home. Those thank you letters and pictures are shared in the book next to the Display of Valor.
Please consider filling a care package or two to send to one of our own! Thank you again for your support and generosity in supporting our St. Edith Stein Military men, women and their families!
